Why Peer Tutor?

Students at PTM don't just learn math, they make friends and the goal is for them to want to come to the sessions because of the positive learning experiences they'll have. If you want to be a part, just let us know. We'd love to include you in our community!

At PTM our teachers and peer tutors work collaboratively as a team. We are a team of certified teachers, trained instructors, and trained peer tutors. We work together to make learning happen by utilizing our strengths. We each have a role and a position in our tutoring team.

Students are influenced by each other. They learn from example and they listen to each other in ways adults can't. At PTM, we have hand selected students that set a good example, understand content, and can serve as a positive mentor for the students they tutor. Our tutors are not only honors students, but role models.

We train our students to use free, easy, and effective learning strategies: retrieval practice, spacing, interleaving, and feedback-driven metacognition. These strategies are based on how our brain takes in, processes, and stores information. It is our goal to make our students independent, self-directed learners and f
